Nir Oksenberg

Vice President, Scientific Communications at Weber Shandwick

Nir Oksenberg, PhD has had extensive work experience in the field of scientific communication. Starting in 2005, they worked as a Full-time Laboratory Intern at Stanford University, studying the mechanisms of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis (EAE). In 2006, they became a Staff Research Associate I at UCSF, focusing on the development of experimental Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). From 2008 to 2014, they pursued their graduate studies at UCSF as a Graduate student, specializing in Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences. During this time, they also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Davis, co-instructing undergraduate course SAS20: Genetics and Society.

In 2016, Nir joined the Delta Stewardship Council, a California State Agency, where they served as a Science Communicator and Senior Environmental Scientist. Nir'srole involved translating scientific information regarding water in California into a format understood by policymakers, water managers, and the public. In 2018, they became a Board Member and the Professional Development Chair at Capitol Science Communicators, a social and professional network connecting professionals and students in the field of science communication.

Since 2019, Nir has been employed at Weber Shandwick, first as a Senior Manager, then as an Account Director, and currently as the Vice President of Scientific Communications. Unfortunately, the dates for their roles at Weber Shandwick are not specified.

Nir Oksenberg, PhD completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Genetics at the University of California, Davis, from 2002 to 2006. Subsequently, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Genetics at the University of California, San Francisco, from 2008 to 2014.
