Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Supervises: None

Classification: Hourly, Union, Non-exempt

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance, installation and repair on all facility equipment and structure which may include (but is not limited to) electrical, welding, carpentry, pipefitting, painting and plumbing
  • Process and complete maintenance work and repair orders
  • Document and perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment as outlined in the manufacturer’s manual or by supervisor’s guidelines
  • Pick up and deliver parts related to facility structure or equipment, as needed
  • Maintains a Chauffeur’s license and drive the Company’s truck to pick up and deliver parts related to facility structure or equipment, as needed
  • Assists in the maintenance and service needs of the truck (i.e. gas, oil and lubrication, cooling system and battery, tire care)
  • Performs pressure washing of buildings and equipment
  • Performs roof repairs
  • Operates Powered Industrial Trucks and performs repairs
  • Performs cement, brick and blockwork repairs and services
  • Performs general maintenance duties and/or clean up
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent and at least four years of related experience and/or equivalent education & experience
  • Previous experience with welding, hydraulics, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical repair is required
  • Previous working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting is highly preferred
  • Maintains an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that meets the Company's Insurance underwriting guidelines
  • Demonstrated reasoning and critical thinking skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are desired
  • Displays a team attitude and have respect for others
  • Demonstrated computer skills for data entry

Working Conditions:

This position is full-time. Days and hours of work are determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Occasional flexibility to work an alternate schedule may be necessary for business demands. The position mainly operates in a manufacturing setting with frequent exposure to production equipment and machinery. The setting may be busy and noisy and with exposure to dust, fumes and gases. Personal protective equipment is provided by the Company.

Physical Demands:

While performing the job duties of this job, the employee will spend most of his/her time standing and walking and will be required to regularly see, talk and hear. The employee is required to do the following:

  • Stand for 6 hours (not continuously)
  • Lift 10-20 lbs (occasionally)
  • Lift 21-50 lbs (frequently)
  • Carry 10 lbs (occasionally)
  • Carry 11-20 lbs (frequently)
  • Carry 21-50 lbs (occasionally)
  • Bend (frequently)
  • Squat (frequently)
  • Reach above shoulder level (frequently)
