Tom Ellis serves as a Professor in Synthetic Genome Engineering at Imperial College London since January 2010, where responsibilities include original research, teaching, and outreach in synthetic biology and biotechnology. In addition, Tom Ellis is an Associate Faculty member in Synthetic Genomics at the Wellcome Sanger Institute and has held a position on the Advisory Board of Addgene since November 2012. Previous roles include a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge, where Tom worked on engineering mammalian cell lines, and a postdoctoral researcher at Boston University, focusing on designing gene networks. Tom Ellis holds a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Cambridge and degrees in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry from the University of Oxford.
