Karen Xiao

Karen Xiao is an undergraduate student at Wellesley College, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Mathematics, with a cross-registration at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Currently, Karen serves as a Research Intern at the CMU Human-Computer Interaction Institute, contributing to significant research projects, and also conducts empirical analysis of ranked choice voting methods for the Institute for Mathematics and Democracy. Previous experience includes roles as a Data Analytics Intern at Quantbot Technologies, where Karen optimized data processes and collaborated with quantitative researchers, and various research positions focused on node centrality in gig-based platforms and climate risk analysis at prestigious institutions. Additionally, Karen has served as a tutor in the Computer Science department and manages social media for the department to promote community inclusivity.
