Michael Lipsitz

Michael Lipsitz is the EVP, Chief Regulatory & Policy Affairs Executive at Wells Fargo. Michael has previously served as the Chief Legal Officer and Senior EVP at Santander US from August 2015 to May 2020. In this role, they led the Santander US Legal and Corporate Affairs Department and oversaw legal risk management, and legal advice and support, for Santander Holdings USA, Inc., Santander Bank, N.A. and other Santander entities, businesses and functions across the United States. Michael also oversaw the Santander US Government Relations and Public Policy, Regulatory Relations, Consumer and Business Practices, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Secretary, and Governance functions. Prior to joining Santander US, Lipsitz served as Managing Director and General Counsel, Retail & Community Banking at JPMorgan Chase & Co. from January 2004 to August 2015. In this role, they led teams providing dedicated legal support to Chase’s Consumer and Business Banking businesses (Consumer Banking, Business Banking, Chase Wealth Management), Chase Auto Finance and Student Lending, and Chase’s cross-consumer Marketing/Social Media group, with shared responsibility for the Digital legal team. Michael also counseled Office of Non-Profit Engagement, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Media Relations, Government Relations and Consumer senior management generally. Lipsitz has also been a member of Consumer Banking, Consumer & Community Banking Legal, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Legal Department management teams. Furthermore, they chaired JPMorgan Chase’s global pro bono program.

Michael Lipsitz received a B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University and then went on to earn their J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1989.
