Shane Phelan

Shane Phelan has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, starting with their role as a Software Test Engineer at Microsoft in 1995. Shane then worked as an IT Consultant at Amdahl Corp. before becoming an IT Engineer at Belgacom Mobile S.A. and Motorola Mobility. From 1999 to 2001, they served as an IT Systems Engineer at ESB. Shane then worked as a Windows 2000 Rollout Consultant at CSR (Australia) Rolling Stock Services Company Pty Ltd. Shane continued their career as an IT Engineer at QBE Insurance and Irish Life & Permanent. In 2004, they joined the Department of Justice and Equality as a Senior IT Systems Administrator. Shane later held positions at Welocalize, starting as an IT Manager in Dublin and progressing to IT Manager for Europe and Asia. Shane was then promoted to Global IT Manager and finally Senior Director, Global IT Support, responsible for managing a team of 16 and achieving high customer satisfaction levels.

Shane Phelan holds a B.Sc. Degree in Applied Computing from Waterford Institute of Technology, which was obtained in 1995. Furthermore, they have obtained various certifications, including Certified ISO 27001 ISMS Lead Auditor (CIS LA) from IBITGQ in 2020, Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in 2020, AI For Everyone from deeplearning.ai in 2019, DAT207x: Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Power BI from Microsoft in 2017, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2017, Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) from ISACA in 2016, COBIT 5 Foundation Examination from ISACA in 2015, Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA in 2015, and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator in 2001. Additionally, they obtained a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification in 1999.
