In his role as Director of Engineering, Real’s responsibilities include: managing a team of engineers and CAD operators, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Engineering Department, reviewing shop drawings to ensure Welsbach follow clients’ specifications (as well as New York City and national electric codes), conducting engineering meetings, and ensuring on-schedule delivery of various projects.
Real also understands complex electrical installation and believes that creating projects using BIM (Building Information Modeling)—where the client, the general contractor and the sub-contractors can see and interact with the developing phase of the project—is the way to the future.
Real has been in the electrical construction business for more than 20 years. His electrical career began at Forest Electric in 1994 where he held positions as a CAD operator, CAD manager, and project engineer. He joined Welsbach Electric in 2009 and became the lead engineering for one of the biggest project at that time, the Newtown Creek water treatment plan.
Real’s talent and attention to detail play a significant role in Welsbach’s track record of success. Real also brings a small business owner’s perspective to each project he’s involved in.
Real holds an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (HVAC-R) and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He is a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) and AGUI (Autodesk User Group International). He also holds a variety of certifications related to the industry.
