Karen Bates Ma, Lpc, Caadc

Karen Bates, MA, LPC, CAADC, is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in mental health and wellness. Currently a Dance Instructor at WERQ Dance Fitness since June 2022 and a Licensed Zumba Instructor since March 2016, Karen promotes fitness and wellness through engaging dance programs. Prior to these roles, Karen practiced as a Clinical Psychotherapist from May 1999 to January 2021, conducting assessments and therapy for various age groups. Karen held positions such as Program Supervisor at Neighborhood Service Organization and Program Liaison/Clinical Therapist at Oakland Family Services, showcasing leadership in clinical settings and direct support for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health disorders. Educationally, Karen earned a Master's of Arts in Counseling/Psychology from Wayne State University and is pursuing a Doctorate in General Psychology at Walden University.
