Matt Garcia has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Matt started their career in 1996 at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center as the Chief Operating Officer and Administrator, a role they held until 2008. From 2008 to 2011, they worked at Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines as the Director of Performance Excellence and also as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Matt then joined Catholic Health Initiatives as the Division Director of Performance Excellence from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, they joined Western Home Communities, where they served as the Chief Business Development and Process Improvement Officer until 2019, and later as the Chief People and Central Iowa Operations Officer until 2020. In the same year, they became the Regional Director of Network Operations at WesleyLife. Additionally, Matt has experience as an Adjunct Faculty at the University of Northern Iowa - College of Business Administration from 2018 to 2020. Currently, they are a Co-Facilitator of LeadingAge Iowa Leadership Academy at LeadingAge Iowa.

Matt Garcia has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Northern Iowa, obtained between 1992 and 1995. Matt also holds an MBA from The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business, earned between 2003 and 2004. Additionally, they have certifications as a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt from ASQ, obtained in June 2009, and as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator from the State of Iowa, obtained in December 1997.
