Caroline Budd

Chief Operating Officer at Wessex Archaeology

Caroline Budd started working with Wessex Archaeology in 1998 as a fieldwork site assistant and 20 years later she is now the Chief Operating Officer having acquired a unique range of in-depth knowledge, skills, and experience about archaeology and heritage along the way. She leads an experienced team of Operational Directors across a range of specialisms from coastal & marine right through to built heritage, all of whom provide expert advice and services on a wide range of projects from small single-dwelling developments to large infrastructure projects and public sector contracts.

Her experience has provided her with a clear overview of their people and their business. This knowledge allows her to act as a member of the Executive Management Team who are responsible for the success, culture, and strategic direction of Wessex Archaeology.

Caroline is motivated by the amazing people that she works with and by a real belief that, if engaged early in the planning process, heritage can be an asset to any commercial development.

When not at work, Caroline loves being outdoors indulging in her passion for gardening, enjoying the sunshine, and spending time with her three cats.
