Jon Harkness

Jon Harkness is an experienced professional with a diverse background in law and academia. Currently serving as Acquisitions Editor at West Academic since January 2015, Harkness is also a Co-Owner of IdeaForm Products LLC. Previously, Harkness worked as a Patent Attorney at Geiser Law, PLLC, focusing on intellectual property law from December 2012 to December 2014. Harkness contributed to the academic field as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota's Program in the History of Medicine from 2002 to 2012, and held positions as a Clinical Literature Analyst at Canopy Medical, LLC, and a Litigation Consultant and Expert Witness in the prior decade. Harkness has editorial experience as the Managing Editor of Isis and served as a Consulting Historian for the Presidential Advisory Commission on Human Radiation Experiments. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Law from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, a PhD in History of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Luther College.
