Dr. Oscar Owens, Jr. has extensive work experience in various roles within the Church of God In Christ. Dr. Oscar began their career in 1980 as a Minister of the Gospel and continued serving in this role until 1992. In 1992, they joined the West Angeles Church of God In Christ, where they held multiple positions including Director of Christian Education and Bible College President. Dr. Owens, Jr. also served as a Youth Pastor at Second Baptist Church in Los Angeles and Abyssinian Baptist Church. Additionally, they have worked as a Teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. In recent years, Dr. Owens, Jr. has worked as a Professor at Vanguard University of Southern California and Azusa Pacific University. In 1985, Dr. Owens furthered their education by obtaining a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Los Angeles, a program they completed in 1990. Finally, they pursued a Doctor of Ministry degree in Practical Theology and Spiritual Formation from Azusa Pacific University, which they completed from 2007 to 2017.
