Benjamin Carpenter

Benjamin Carpenter has extensive experience in metalworking and welding education, currently serving as the Welding Department Head at Kennedy High School within the West Contra Costa Unified School District since January 2019. With a background as an Architectural Fabricator at Backbone Fabrication since June 2004, Benjamin has contributed to custom architectural metalwork. As a Founding Member of the Five Ton Crane Collaborative Arts Group since May 2007, collaborative art initiatives have been a focus. Previous roles include Welding Department Head at The Crucible, where responsibilities included curriculum development and safety management, and Certified Fire Inspector, holding multiple safety-related certifications. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in Interactive Sculpture from San Francisco State University and a BFA in Metalsmithing from the Maine College of Art & Design.
