Shannon Webber

Shannon Webber is the current Vice President, General Counsel at West Fraser. Before joining West Fraser, Shannon was the Vice President, Legal and Corporate Secretary at Great Panther Mining Limited from July 2020 to August 2021. Prior to that, Shannon was the General Counsel at Alterra Power Corp. from May 2014 to April 2018. Shannon Webber started their career as a lawyer at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP / S.E.N.C.R.L., S.R.L. in January 2004 and remained there until May 2014 when they joined Alterra Power Corp.

Shannon has been recognized throughout their career for their exemplary work as a lawyer. Shannon has been nominated and named a finalist for the Western Canada General Counsel Award - Tomorrow's Leader and has also been nominated for the Lexpert Rising Star Award. Shannon has also been included in Chambers Canada: Canada's Leading Lawyers for Business from 2015 to 2020 in the area of Mining Law.

Some of Shannon's representative work includes acting as underwriters' counsel on a C$500-million public offering of unsecured debentures by Cameco Corporation and counsel to Pan American Silver Corp. on its C$1.5-billion acquisition of Minefinders Corporation Ltd. Shannon also acted as counsel to Eldorado Gold Corporation in connection with its C$2.5-billion acquisition of European Goldfields Limited and counsel to Pan American Silver Corp. on its successful C$626-million take-over bid for Aquiline Resources Inc.

Shannon Webber has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from York University - Osgoode Hall Law School and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Chemistry from Simon Fraser University. Shannon is certified by the Law Society of British Columbia and the Law Society of Ontario.
