Melissa Welsch is a seasoned biologist with extensive experience in avian and bat research related to wind energy. Since August 2008, Melissa has worked at Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc., where responsibilities include conducting detailed research on birds and bats, performing technical editing, and summarizing federal guidelines regarding sensitive species. Previous roles encompass positions as Bander-in-Charge at Redwood Sciences Laboratory, Field Biologist/Supervisor at The Institute for Bird Populations, and various self-employed contracting projects involving federal and state biological studies. Additionally, Melissa has contributed to bird banding efforts in the Caribbean and supervised field data collection for studies on wind energy impacts. An academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Luther College and a Master's degree in Zoology from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
