Ron Baime

Ron joined the West Marine crew in May 2019. With more than 30 years in the retail industry, he measures his success by that of his teammates and is deeply committed to helping others hone their craft so they can soar. Doing what’s best for the team isn’t a surprise since it was Ron’s childhood dream to play one of the biggest team sports around — baseball! Players he looked up to include Roberto Clemente, Jennie Finch, and Sandy Koufax. Fortunately for us, he found retail instead.

With over 12 years of experience at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc., Ron served as senior vice president and general merchandise manager, among other roles. As senior vice president, he directed several critical, cross-functional initiatives around digital strategy, category and business unit launches, as well as customer experience and off-price purchasing.

Prior to Dick’s Sporting Goods, Ron held senior merchandising and ecommerce roles with some of the best performing retailers out there, including Kohl’s, Best Buy, and Five Below. Ron has also served on Boards and as a Consultant in the Retail, Wholesale and Technology sectors.

When Ron’s not at work, he is usually biking, hiking or skiing with his family, unless a good classic rock concert is in town. He’s had the pleasure of meeting Jerry Garcia, David Bowie, Carlos Santana, and Elvis Costello, just to name a few. And oh, the stories he could tell!

Ron holds a B.A. in business administration and sociology from the University of Pittsburgh.
