Gary Beale

Gary Beale is an experienced legal professional specializing in maritime and shipping law. Currently serving as the Deputy Head of Defence and Claims Manager at West P&I since August 2022, Gary previously held the position of Claims Manager at the London P&I Club from November 2020 to August 2022. Prior to that, Gary worked as a Senior Associate in the Marine and International Trade Department at Stephenson Harwood LLP from April 2015 to November 2020, and as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa with a focus on commercial law from January 2007 to December 2013 at The Cape Bar. Gary's legal career began as a Litigation Paralegal at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer from 2003 to 2005. Gary holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Shipping Law from the University of Cape Town, a MSc in Maritime Law and Policy from World Maritime University, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Cape Town, and a BA in English Literature and Private Law from the University of Cape Town.
