Mill Operations Supervisor

Job description

Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.

Reporting to the Mill Superintendent, the Mill Operations Supervisor is responsible for setting goals for the Mill Operations team and coordinates work activities. The Mill Operations Supervisor will work 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off work schedule. The Mill Operations Supervisor ensures adequate resources are available for meeting production requirements and safe and healthy work practices are being followed.

The focus of this role will include:

  • Ensures mill activities are conducted in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and Regulations and environmental standards

  • Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures

  • Support the Mill General Foreman in the shift by shift operations of the mill

  • Support the development of mill production targets and ensures mill production targets are met or exceeded

  • Ensure circuit optimization of Leach/CIP, Stripping, Carbon regeneration etc.

  • Develops a sense of continuous improvement, ensures appropriate training programs are conducted and followed

  • Leads operations crew to achieve planned results including junior operators

  • Maintain accurate and legible circuit log sheets

  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly safety compliances

  • Other duties as may be required

Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a mill operation

  • Supervisory common core

  • Proven safety leadership

  • Strong leadership and team building skills to develop and maintain positive working relationships

  • Instills a “team” approach in working with other operating departments

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills as well as superior written and oral communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and analytical skills
