Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, Operations, the successful candidate plays a lead role in budgeting, financial forecasting and cost control for mine operations. The Senior Mine Accountant will work locally on a 5-2/4-3 schedule.
The focus of this role will include:
Preparation of the period end close process, including journal entries and allocations, variance analysis, and balance sheet accounts reconciliations.
Ensuring the period end close is done within deadlines
Work closely with the Director of Corporate Finance to ensure consistency with Corporate financial requirements
Cash forecasting and banking
Assisting in Payroll preparation
Ensure all bills, invoices, accounts are paid in a timely manner
Provide management with regular financial reports and analyses
Assist department heads with budget development and management
Ensure adequate financial controls are in place
Participate in the yearly audit and ensure deadlines are met and reporting is accurate and compliant with industry and company regulations
Provide guidance and support on OPEX and CAPEX
Other duties as assigned
