Amena O. Anderson

Amena O. Anderson, PhD, is a seasoned educator and leader with extensive experience in higher education and community development. Currently serving as Founder and Visionary at Shifting Power, LLC, since January 2020, Amena specializes in responsive leadership consulting and management of independent contractors. As an Assistant Professor of Practice and Assistant Director at West Virginia University's ADVANCE Center since May 2017, Amena manages the Change Agent Course and has launched initiatives to support underrepresented faculty. Previous roles include Teaching Assistant Professor, Visiting Assistant Professor, and Campus Retention Specialist at West Liberty University, as well as positions with the West Virginia University Extension Service and West Virginia Wesleyan College. Amena holds a PhD in Higher Education Leadership & Policy Studies, a Master's degree in Educational Leadership, and a Bachelor's degree in English.
