Medical Director, Regional Emergency Services, Interfacility Transfer, And Disaster Medicine at Westchester Medical Center

Jonathan Berkowitz has a diverse work experience in the field of emergency medicine and healthcare administration. Jonathan has served as the Medical Director for various organizations, including Northwell Health, where they led the implementation of telehealth in acute unscheduled care and designed the integration of telestroke and teleburn into the transfer referral system. Jonathan was also the Medical Director for the Center for Emergency Medical Services, overseeing a large hospital-based ambulance agency and leading innovation projects.

Berkowitz has held leadership roles at the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine, where they serve as the Chief of the Division of PreHospital and Disaster Medicine. Jonathan has been actively involved in thought leadership and has been awarded several grants. Jonathan then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University from 1999 to 2003. Following that, they completed a Residency in Emergency Medicine at UCLA from 2003 to 2006. In 2023, Jonathan attended Hofstra University and obtained an Executive MBA degree. Additionally, they hold certifications as a Board Certified Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Physician and as a Board Certified Emergency Physician, both from the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
