Gary Harmon has extensive work experience in the field of network operations and engineering. From 1991 to 1994, they worked as a Network Administrator and Programmer Analyst at USDA, where they designed and maintained LANs and led programming projects. From 1994 to 2000, Gary worked as a Telecommunications Specialist at USDA, where they designed and maintained a national WAN and gained experience with WAN tools and UNIX. In 2000, they joined Rhythms NetConnections as a Senior Network Engineer, where they led the design and configuration of a national DSL network. Since 2003, they have been working at Western Area Power Administration, first as a Senior Network Engineer and later as Vice President of Network Operations, overseeing network team operations and supervising staff.
Gary Harmon's education history includes a Master of Science (MS) degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder. This degree was obtained between 1995 and 1997. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from South Dakota Mines, which they completed from 1985 to 1991.
