Craig Fowler is currently the Chief Information Officer at Western Carolina University. Prior to this, they served as Commissioner on the e-NC Authority Board from January 2005 to December 2011. The e-NC Authority is responsible for the state initiative to link all North Carolinians, especially those in rural areas, to the Internet. Craig Fowler also served as Vice President of Information Technology for Corning Cable Systems from January 2001 to December 2009. Corning Cable Systems is a global telecommunications cable and hardware business unit of Corning Incorporated with revenue above $1.5B and over 10,000 employees in 21 countries. Craig Fowler was responsible for managing significant global IT spend and capital, with a global direct staff located in USA, Mexico, Caribbean, Europe, Australia, and China. Under their leadership, Craig Fowler launched an IT strategy to improve global competitiveness which included implementing a global Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system using SAP, customer relationship management using software-as-a-service (SaaS), revamped customer facing web presence, manufacturing systems focused on quality information, and enhanced infrastructure. This strategic change was complex and enabled a foundation for leveraging global assets, increasing capabilities, and lowering costs.

Craig Fowler has a MBA in Business Administration from The University of Dallas and a BA in Mathematics from University of West Florida.

They are on a team with Melissa Wargo - Chief of Staff, Michael T. Byers - Vice Chancellor for Administration & Finance, and Alex Gary - Director of Athletics. Their manager is Kelli R. Brown, Chancellor.
