Karen Horneffer-Ginter has a diverse work experience in the fields of psychology and wellness. Karen currently serves as the Associate Dean for Culture & Chief Wellness Officer at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine since 2018. Karen also co-founded the Center for Psychotherapy and Wellness in 2007. Prior to that, they worked as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and later as an Adjunct Associate Professor, Program Director, and Associate Professor in Integrative Holistic Health and Wellness at Western Michigan University. Karen was also the Director of Behavioral Sciences at Loyola Medicine.

Karen Horneffer-Ginter has a strong educational background in psychology and has pursued further studies in the fields of international relations, business management essentials, diversity and inclusion, and executive leadership. Karen completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical and Community Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1996. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical and Community Psychology from the same university in 1993. Karen also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Michigan, which they earned in 1991. In recent years, they have engaged in certificate programs to enhance their knowledge and skills. Karen completed a Graduate Certificate in International Relations from the Harvard Extension School in 2018. Additionally, they have pursued three certificate programs from eCornell, specializing in Business Management Essentials (2022), Diversity and Inclusion (2022), and Executive Leadership (2021).
