Jan Van Der Kley

Ms. Van Der Kley has served as the vice president for business and finance at Western Michigan University since July 1, 2011. She has global oversight for facilities management, public safety, human resources, contract administration, and financial activities of the University, including responsibility for the investment and management of endowments, planned gifts, and working capital.

Van Der Kley started her career at Western in 1983. Prior to assuming the vice presidency role, she held many positions throughout the University, including the positions of Associate Vice President for Business and Finance, Director of Accounting Services, Director of Operations in Development and Alumni, and the Director of Internal Audit. She also serves as Treasurer of the University and the related foundations. Prior to joining Western, she worked in public accounting where she achieved her certified public accountant license, which is still active.

Van Der Kley earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1980 and 1983, respectively.
