Michael Rich earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy from Huntingdon College, which they attended from 1978 to 1982. Following this, they pursued further education at Duke University, where they obtained a Master of Divinity degree between 1982 and 1986. In 1984, they completed a Certificate program in Ethics and Public Policy at Wesley Theological Seminary. Finally, from 1986 to 1995, Michael Rich attended the University of Maryland, earning a Ph.D. in Recreation.
