Kate Stevens is an accomplished cognitive scientist with extensive experience in academia and research. Currently serving as Provost at Western Sydney University's Westmead Campus and holding the position of Director of Research and Engagement, Kate has significantly contributed to the field of music cognition and action. Since April 2017, Kate has also been the Director of The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development. Additionally, from January 2017 to June 2024, Kate has held the role of Editor-in-Chief for the journal Music Perception at the University of California Press. Prior experience includes serving as an ARC Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Queensland from January 1993 to April 1995. Kate earned a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Sydney between 1988 and 1992.
