Stuart Hill is an Emeritus Professor and Foundation Chair of Social Ecology at Western Sydney University, where tenure began in 1995 and continues to the present. In addition to this role, Stuart has served as an advisor for the Pioneer Health Foundation since 1980 and was a member of the Journal Editorial Board for SLaM from 2002 to 2014. Collaborative efforts include involvement with the Society for Sustainable Business, Inc. from 2008 to 2009 and serving as a professor at the Garden of Eden from 2003 to 2006. Between 1993 and December 2000, Stuart facilitated workshops for the Secretariat for International Landcare Inc. Prior experience includes an associate professorship at McGill University, overseeing the Zoology Major program and establishing Ecological Agriculture Projects from 1969 to 1995. Stuart holds a PhD in Ecology from the University of the West Indies and a BSc(Hons) in Zoology from Swansea University, along with A level studies in Geology.
