L. Ryan Thomas has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. L. Ryan began their career in 1993 in the United States Army Reserve as a Retention N.C.O. - Sergeant, where they were responsible for contract management, conflict resolution, and mentoring soldiers. In 2007, they joined Jacobsen Construction as a Project Manager, overseeing project management, budgeting, and personnel. Thomas then joined Westland Construction, Inc. in 2014 as a Senior Project Manager and later became the Director for Domestic/Canada Temples & Westland Southwest Office. Their responsibilities include project oversight, contracting, negotiation, and supervision.

L. Ryan Thomas has a diverse education history. In 2009, they obtained LEED Accredited Professional certification from USGBC. From 2005 to 2007, they pursued an undergraduate degree in Business Management at the University of Phoenix. Prior to that, from 2002 to 2005, they completed an Associate degree in General Studies at Salt Lake Community College. Additionally, during the same period, they also pursued a Trades degree, specializing in Electrical Journeyman Apprenticeship at Salt Lake Community College.
