Stu Jernigan

Stu Jernigan has a diverse work experience spanning over several years in various educational roles. Stu started working at Leadership Public Schools in 2007 as a Humanities Teacher before moving on to become a Humanities Teacher at San Francisco Unified School District in 2008. In 2011, they briefly worked as an English as a Foreign Language Teacher at CCBEU - Centro Cultural Brasil Estados Unidos. Stu then returned to San Francisco Unified School District in 2012 and held multiple positions, including Teacher on Special Assignment and Digital Learning Specialist. During their time at San Francisco Unified School District, they played a significant role in driving innovation in teaching and learning through personalized and tech-enabled strategies. In 2023, Stu joined WeVideo as an Education Specialist.

Stu Jernigan completed their education at Humboldt State University. Stu obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, which they pursued from 2001 to 2006. Following this, Stu pursued a Teaching Credential in English and Social Science in the field of Secondary Education and Teaching from 2006 to 2007 at the same university. In addition to their formal education, Stu also holds various certifications, including the Google Certified Educator Level 1 certification from Google for Education, obtained in November 2022. Stu also holds certifications in evaluating online information, Adobe Creative Educator levels 1 and 2, creating a code of conduct, designing a creative class, evaluating online tools for classroom use, implementing media projects in the upper grades, making media for classroom use (audio and video, images, graphics, and interactives), assessing student media, Swift Water Rescue Level 4 from the American Canoe Association, Wilderness First Responder from NOLS, AIARE Level 2 and Avalanche Rescue from the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE).
