Gail Thomas Strong

VP, Community Engagement at WFYI Public Media

Gail Thomas Strong serves as the Vice President of Community Engagement for WFYI Public Media. Since 1999, Gail has actively developed partnerships with social service, civic, arts, government, and educational organizations so that both individual citizens and these organizations have the tools to make measurable change in the community. In addition, Gail directs PBS Learning Media in Indiana and PBS TeacherLine for Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations.

Gail relocated to Indiana in 1991 to direct community outreach for the Indiana Youth Institute. As her work there evolved, she created a statewide leadership development program and became the Director of Leadership Education. Gail has also been a youth agency executive, a classroom teacher, and a curriculum/training consultant for local and national nonprofits and foundations. Currently, she serves United Way in a variety of leadership roles, including her membership on the Success by Six committees, agency evaluator, and chairing the board of Indiana Connected by 25. She is a co-creator of the Indy Talks series, chairs the Spirit and Place Festival program committee, and is a member of the Community Advisory Council for Citizens Energy Group.
