Wes Carson

Vice President, Mining Operations at Wheaton Precious Metals

Wes Carson has extensive experience in the mining industry, with a focus on operations and project development. Wes began their career as a Mine Engineer at Cominco Metals - Sullivan Mine in 1999 and later moved to Elk Valley Coal as a Mine Engineer in 2002. In 2005, they worked as a Mine Planner at Placer Dome Canada - Musselwhite Mine before becoming a Mining Manager at Barrick Tanzania - North Mara Gold Mine.

Carson then held various leadership positions, including Director - Mining at Terrane Metals Corporation from 2007 to 2010 and Vice President and General Manager (Mt. Milligan) at Thompson Creek Metals Company from 2010 to 2012. Wes furthered their career as the Vice President of Project Development at Sabina Gold & Silver Corp. from 2012 to 2017.

In 2017, Carson joined Wheaton Precious Metals as the Senior Director of Mining Operations and later transitioned to the role of Vice President of Mining Operations in June 2018. Wes is currently serving as an Independent Director at Arras Minerals Corp. and Prosper Gold Corp. since April 2021.

Wes Carson completed their Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mining and Mineral Process Engineering from The University of British Columbia between 1996 and 2000.
