Jia Yu

Jia Yu is a highly experienced professional in computer science and engineering, currently serving as Co-Founder and Chief Architect at Wherobots since September 2022, where leadership in R&D focuses on building scalable data computation engines for Spatial Analytics and AI. Previously, Jia held the role of Co-Founder and Head of Engineering at Wherobots, establishing the engineering team and delivering the first product. As V.P. and Project Management Committee Chair of Apache Sedona at The Apache Software Foundation since July 2015, Jia contributes to the open-source community. Jia also served as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Washington State University, leading a research lab with PhD students from August 2020 to August 2022. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Software Engineering from Northwest A&F University.
