Managing Director, Whisper Create

OVERVIEW

Whisper is a leading global production company, specialising in sports, unscripted and branded entertainment.

Our diverse team of over 270 team members work in offices across the UK and beyond, producing top level sports such as Formula One, UEFA and The Paralympics, as well as branded content, prime-time documentaries and entertainment quiz shows for a raft of broadcasters.

In 2023 Whisper won a BAFTA and was nominated for an International EMMY. It's co-owned by Sony Pictures Television and is a seven-times Broadcast Best Places to Work.

We are in search for a Managing Director to head our Whisper Create team. Whisper Create is a division of Whisper working with international brands. The dynamic team produce high-level TVCs and a range of branded content.

This role involves leading this growing branded, commercial, and events division, and championing a culture of innovation and excellence.

This new position will have a direct reporting line to the Group CEO.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Planning: Identifying and driving new global business opportunities for Whisper Create, expanding current partnerships while maintaining operational efficiency.

  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing client portfolio.

  • Board Advisory: Deliver astute strategic advice to the SMT, granting them a precise understanding of market conditions and the company’s prospective journey.

  • Operational Planning: Architect and deploy strategic plans to amplify achievements, emphasising cost-effective operations and proactive market development initiatives

  • Project Management: Oversee the execution of all projects, from initial concept to final delivery. On time. On budget.

  • Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, forecasting and the group’s financial reporting. This role includes monitoring of expenses and revenue streams, along with directing the group's investment activities and business ventures, to ensure robust profitability and financial health.

  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the team as well as freelance support. Fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  • Delegation: Delegate critical responsibilities effectively, collaborating with key stakeholders to nurture maximum performance and guide the team towards shared goals.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring delivery of best-in-class content that builds on Whisper’s reputation as a world class production company.

  • Culture: Enhancing our industry leading culture across the division and group.

  • Industry Trends and Innovation:Steer the incorporation of technological advancements and pioneering strategies to bolster Whisper Create’s competitive edge to enhance the agency's offerings and competitiveness.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 15+ years in a senior management role within a production agency or a related industry, demonstrating a track record of managing complex projects and delivering growth.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with effective presentation skills
  • Strong international network with a focus on motorsports
  • Ability to collaborate with partners agency eco-system to deliver world-class content.
  • Previous experience in event production
  • Previous experience in branded and commercial
  • Ability to motivate large-scale teams and drive a high performing team.
  • P+L ownership with a strong business acumen
  • Operating as part of a Senior Management Team

WORKING DAYS:

Monday – Friday.

4 days in office, 1 day working from home.

There is also an expectation of International travel and time spent working abroad.

Whisper offers the option of flexitime hours. When weekend work is required, DOILS will be provided.

LOCATION:

The position is based at our Kew office in London

START:

ASAP on a Permanent contract, but willing to wait for the right candidate.
