Charles Nelson

Charles Nelson is a 1983 graduate of Whitman with a degree in chemistry and economics. He now works as vice chairman and chief growth officer of Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), which provides health, wealth and investment solutions that enable its individual, workplace and institutional clients to achieve their financial wellness goals with confidence. Nelson previously served Whitman on the Alumni Board as well as the Board of Overseers. He currently serves on the board of trustees for Whitman College and The Bushnell, Connecticut’s largest arts organization, as well as on the board of directors of the Defined Contribution Alternatives Association, a nonprofit organization that educates the community on the benefits of including alternative investments within a defined contribution framework. Nelson met his wife, Patti ’85, at Whitman and is also an alumni parent to Jordan ’08.
