John Johnson

VP, Diversity & Inclusion at Whitman College

John Johnson Ph.D. currently serves as the Vice President for Inclusive Excellence at Whitman College, a role held since June 2021. Prior to this position, John Johnson was the Director of Inclusive Excellence Learning and the Director of Centers for Diversity and Inclusion at California State University-Sacramento from January 2017 to June 2021, overseeing multiple centers aimed at fostering an inclusive environment. John Johnson also founded the African American Center for Academic Excellence at Humboldt State University and served as Assistant Professor and Department Chair at Edward Waters College. Previous roles include directing the Institute of Black Culture at the University of Florida and functioning as a Program Coordinator at UC Merced. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, an MA in Educational Psychology from Ball State University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Penn State University.
