Linnea Glenmaye

Linnea GlenMaye was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she completed K-12 education in the Edina school system, a suburb of Minneapolis. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and PhD in Social Welfare from the University of Washington in Seattle. Her doctoral dissertation explored the issue of sexual assault, with a focus on understanding the process women experience in choosing not to report the assault to authorities.

Her first academic appointment was at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where she was assistant professor of social work from 1995 to 1998. GlenMaye came to Wichita State University in 1998, and, in 2004, she was tenured and promoted to associate professor. In that same year, GlenMaye was appointed Director of the School of Social Work, a position she held until beginning her current position as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs in summer, 2011.

GlenMaye was actively involved in the development and initial accreditation of the Master of Social Work Program at WSU, where she contributed to the conceptualization of the advanced generalist specialization of the MSW Program. She has been actively involved in social work education through writings and presentations, and through her service on the Board of the National Association of Deans and Directors of Schools of Social Work. GlenMaye was co-Chair of the Status of Women in Kansas Advisory Committee, a sub-committee of the Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR). Her research publications focus on social work education issues and the empowerment/strengths approach to social work practice.

Dr. GlenMaye was named Acting Dean of the College of Health Professions in January 2020.
