Cameran Ashraf, Ph.D., serves as the Human Rights Lead at the Wikimedia Foundation, focusing on collaboration with Legal and Public Policy teams to enhance the organization's capacity in addressing human rights issues. As the Founder and Director of the Azadi Digital Archive for Human Rights, Justice, and Accountability, Cameran established a significant digital archive documenting the 2022-23 Women, Life, Freedom protests in Iran. Additionally, Cameran holds the role of Assistant Professor at Central European University, teaching courses related to cyberconflict, geopolitics of the internet, and digital security in the context of human rights. Prior experience includes positions at the Open Society Foundations, ICT for Human Rights, Inc., and Access Now, where Cameran contributed to various human rights initiatives and technology projects. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. from UCLA and additional degrees from the University of Oxford, University of Amsterdam, and California State University institutions.
