Elena Lappen

Elena Lappen has a diverse background in community relations, content creation, and organizational leadership. Currently held a position at the Wikimedia Foundation since November 2018, with previous experience as a copywriter and digital content creator at The Noise Lab, where Elena developed marketing content and managed a bilingual company blog. Elena also served as an editorial assistant at Barcelona Metropolitan Magazine, wrote and edited lifestyle content, and collaborated with local businesses. Earlier roles included teaching English in low-income schools for the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, and leading labor organization efforts at UNITE HERE in San Diego, where Elena engaged in collective bargaining and staff training. Elena's academic credentials include a Master's Degree in Latin American Studies focusing on Economic Development from UCLA and a Bachelor's Degree in Latin American Studies with dual specializations in Political Science and Spanish & Portuguese.
