James Baldwin

Director, Finance at Wikimedia Foundation

James Baldwin is the current Director of Finance at Wikimedia Foundation. James previously served as the Director of Finance and Operations at Arise High School from June 2013 to September 2016. In this role, they managed the accounting and reporting team, monthly close process, and annual audit. James also partnered with the Principal and President to make all financial and operational decisions. Additionally, they supervised and coached a 4 person Operations team and led a team restructuring process that clarified job responsibilities and set specific goals. As a result of this process, the team moved 2.5 weeks ahead of the previous operational calendar.

Baldwin also has experience as a Finance and Asset Analyst at NBAC (Ngarliyarndu Bindirri Aboriginal Corporation) from October 2010 to February 2012. In this role, they were responsible for financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting for the organization. Additionally, they oversaw the organization's investment portfolio and conducted analysis on potential investments.

Finally, Baldwin served as the Founder & Student Director at UCSD from August 2009 to December 2009. In this role, they created and oversaw the operations of the Sustainability Resource Center. James was also responsible for developing educational programming around sustainability topics and coordinating outreach efforts to promote sustainable practices on campus.

James Baldwin started their educational career at UC San Diego where they studied economics and sociology. James later attended Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna to study international economics, sociology. James also received a certification from the Charter School Development Center in Chief Business Officer training.
