Omari Sefu

Omari Sefu currently serves as the Manager of Data Science and Analytics at the Wikimedia Foundation, leading a team dedicated to providing insights and tools to enhance decision-making within the global Wikimedia Movement. Previously, Omari held the position of Research Manager for the Data for Good initiative at Meta, overseeing the Maps for Good program and managing a suite of geospatial data products aimed at addressing global crises. Additional experience includes roles at School-to-School International as a Board Member, and various analytical positions at organizations such as the American Red Cross, where responsibilities included disaster-related analytics infrastructure, and American Water, focusing on asset inventory management. Omari’s early career featured roles at the University of Maryland and the Architect of the Capitol, alongside a GIS Lab Technician position at the University of Maryland. Omari earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography & Geospatial Information Systems from the University of Maryland.
