Rachel Salata

Rachel Salata has a diverse work experience in outdoor education and adventure leadership. Rachel started their career as a Camp Counselor at YMCA of the USA in 2016, focusing on the safety and development of campers. Rachel then worked as an Intern at Outdoor Adventures by Boojum, providing logistical and administrative support for outdoor programs. At Penn State University, Rachel served as a Climbing Wall Monitor, facilitating climbing activities and ensuring safety protocols. Rachel also held roles as a Program Facilitator for Vertical Adventures and a Trip Leader for Outdoor Adventures, leading outdoor activities for Penn State students. Rachel later joined Boojum Institute for Experiential Education as a Course Director, overseeing course logistics and curriculum. Rachel then worked as a Ski Instructor at Park City, responsible for the safety and progress of ski school participants. Currently, Rachel is the Director of Staffing at Wilderness Adventures, where they oversee staffing operations and previously worked as a Gap Semester Instructor and Trip Leader. Their experience includes curriculum development, risk management, and providing exceptional customer support.

Rachel Salata completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Management at Penn State University from 2015 to 2019. Prior to that, they attended Pottsville Area High School between 2011 and 2015. In terms of additional certifications, Rachel obtained CPR & AED certification from AdventureMed, LLC in November 2021, and also completed the Wilderness First Responder course through AdventureMed, LLC in the same month. In January 2019, they obtained CPR & AED certification from SOLO Wilderness Medical School, and in October 2017, they completed the Wilderness First Aid course offered by the same institution. Moreover, Rachel obtained another Wilderness First Responder certification from SOLO Wilderness Medical School in January 2019.
