Alice Laguardia

Species Monitoring Specialist at Wildlife Conservation Society

Alice Laguardia is an experienced conservation biologist currently serving as a Species Monitoring Specialist at the Wildlife Conservation Society since May 2022. Prior to this role, Alice held the position of Senior Scientist at the same organization from January 2017 to June 2021, where responsibilities included overseeing the national Gabon surveys for the Great Elephant Census – Forest Initiative. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Nature Conservation from Beijing Forestry University, where research focused on habitat fragmentation effects on leopard metapopulations in China. Additional experience includes positions as Research Supervisor at the Zoological Society of London, an internship at Wildlife Translocation Services & Cape Leopard Trust, and participation in a youth volunteer program with WWF International. Alice also holds an MSc in Wildlife Biology & Conservation from Edinburgh Napier University and a BSc in Veterinary Biotechnology from Universita' degli Studi di Milano.
