Jennifer Materkoski

Jennifer Materkoski, M.A. has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Jennifer started their career in 2005 as an Account Executive and On-Air Personality at WOMP-FM, where they targeted new accounts and developed radio advertising plans while also working as a DJ and producer for satellite radio shows. Jennifer then became a News Producer at WTRF-TV, where they coordinated photography and reporting staff for live broadcasts and organized newscasts. In 2008, they joined WTOV-9 Inc. as an Account Executive, developing and selling television advertising plans and assisting in creative development of ads and special events.

In 2009, Jennifer worked as an Insurance Agent at Steele Insurance Associates, selling and servicing personal and commercial insurance products. Jennifer obtained property and casualty licensure and maintained continuing education. From 2012 to 2015, they served as the Special Events Coordinator and Volunteer Liaison at Crittenton Services, Inc., where they maintained records, schedules, and budgets for fundraising events, solicited donors and volunteers, and managed the agency's volunteers.

In 2014, Jennifer started their own business, Songbird Public Relations, as the Owner and Principal Consultant. Jennifer provided marketing and public relations services for clients in various industries, creating and implementing social media strategies, email marketing and blog content, and managing fundraisers and events. In 2015, they briefly served as the Director of Marketing and Litigation Coordinator at Fitzsimmons Law Firm.

Jennifer joined West Virginia Northern Community College in 2017 as an Adjunct Faculty member. Jennifer then became a Contributing Writer for Weelunk in 2020. Currently, they are working at Williams Lea as the Global Communications Director, leading internal communications efforts, creating content and programs to position the company as a global employer of choice, and working closely with Executive Committee members and business leaders to develop ESG and employer brand content.

Jennifer Materkoski, M.A. obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from West Liberty University, where they studied from 2001 to 2008. Jennifer then pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Public Relations at Kent State University from 2012 to 2014. In addition to their formal education, Jennifer has obtained various certifications in areas such as ESG and social activism, bystander training, communicating across cultures, confronting bias, diversity and inclusion, unconscious bias, and gender and sexuality diversity in the workplace. Jennifer has also acquired skills in Adobe Photoshop CC and completed a course on the science of wellbeing.
