Andrew Gillies

Strategic Transport Planner at Willoughby City Council

Andrew Gillies has work experience as a Strategic Transport Planner at Willoughby City Council since 2020. In this role, their responsibilities include finalizing and implementing the Willoughby Integrated Transport Strategy 2036.

Prior to that, they worked as a Development Planner at Shoalhaven City Council from 2015 to 2018. In this role, they gained a detailed working knowledge of the NSW development assessment system by assessing various types of Development Applications (DAs).

Andrew Gillies has a Master of Spatial Planning degree with a specialization in Urban and Regional Mobility from Radboud University, which they completed in 2019. Andrew also holds a Bachelor of Planning degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from UNSW, which they obtained in 2010.

In terms of additional certifications, Andrew obtained a Dutch for advanced students (B1-B2) certification from Radboud in'to Languages | Wageningen in'to Languages in June 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Dutch for intermediate students (A2-B1) certification from the same institution in January 2019. Andrew also holds a Deutsch B2 Zertifikat from telc GmbH - The European Language Certificates, which they obtained in December 2011.

Andrew has also completed several short courses. In 2022, they attended the Movement and Place Course at the University of Technology Sydney. In 2020, they undertook a short course in Road Safety Strategic Planning at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia. Additionally, they have completed two short courses at the UTS Centre for Local Government at the University of Technology Sydney. These courses focused on Planning for Bushfire Prone Areas and Development Control, and were completed in 2015.
