Christian Hobson, PhD has extensive experience in the chemical sciences. Christian began their career in 2013 with an IAESTE summer placement at Gdańsk University of Technology, where they worked on the optimization of HPLC methods to analyze biochemical assays. In 2014, they completed a 3rd year placement project at Monash University, Melbourne, working in the lab of Patrick Perlmutter on the development of a novel cascade process to form spirocyclic orthoamides. Christian also completed an MChem research project at the University of Warwick with Dr David Fox, where they worked on developing a novel synthetic route to enantiopure N-aryl amino amides using Jocic chemistry. Additionally, they were a Senior Laboratory Demonstrator at the University of Warwick, where they demonstrated the techniques involved in sensitive synthetic chemistry to undergraduate students and taught them how to maintain a safe and efficient lab environment. In 2015, they began their PhD in Chemistry at the University of Warwick, where they investigated and engineered the biosynthesis of polyketide natural products. From 2019 to 2021, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at McMaster University, working in the lab of Professor Gerry Wright. Theirresearch was focused on the discovery and development of natural products produced by bacteria. Currently, they are a Senior Scientist & Head of Chemical Development and a Scientist in Chemistry at Willow Biosciences Inc.
Christian Hobson, PhD completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Chemistry at the University of Warwick in 2019. Prior to that, they completed their MChem in Chemistry at the University of Warwick in 2015.
