Peter MacDonnell has a wealth of experience in law enforcement, with their most recent position being Chief of Police at the Winchester Police Department since July 2016. Prior to that, they held various roles within the department, including Lieutenant in Charge of Patrol and Investigative Operations, Accreditation Officer, Lieutenant/ Shift Commander, Patrol Sergeant, and Patrolman. Peter also served as a Platoon Leader at NEMLEC RRT from May 1995 to April 2008.

Peter MacDonnell attended UMass Boston from 1985 to 1987, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. In 1988, they attended the Massachusetts Police Leadership Institute to gain leadership skills. Peter further pursued their education and completed a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice at Anna Maria College from 1989 to 1991.
