Paul Smith

Paul Smith is the General Manager of Research & Innovation at Wine Australia, a position held since October 2017, where responsibilities include the strategic direction of research development and adoption activities to support Australia's grape and wine community. Previous roles at Wine Australia include Senior RD&E Program Manager, focusing on coordinating R&D and facilitating knowledge transfer within the sector. Prior experience includes research management positions at the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI), where leadership of teams tackled various challenges in wine science and the development of practical tools for winemakers. Paul Smith began a research career as a Research Associate at Flinders University, after obtaining a BSc and PhD in Chemistry from the same institution.
