Giacomo Vettoretto

Engineer, Engine Automation & Remote Monitoring at WinGD

Giacomo Vettoretto has a diverse work experience in engineering and research. Giacomo started their career in 2019 as a Bachelor thesis student at Politecnico di Torino, where they worked in the Vehicle Dynamics department. Their role involved building a MatLab/Simulink based vehicle model to obtain parameter sensitivity correlations.

In 2021, Giacomo joined Empa as an intern and Master thesis student in the Consultancy Projects group. Here, they focused on modeling and validation of aerospace bolted, riveted, and glued joints characterization tests using NonLinear Finite Element Analysis (NLFEA) in Abaqus 2021, reducing design computational effort and accounting for nonlinearities.

In 2022, Giacomo joined WinGD - Winterthur Gas & Diesel as an Engineer in the Engine Automation & Remote Monitoring team. Their responsibilities included monitoring and data analysis of engine performances, conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on engine and subsystems failures, and developing software tools for engine monitoring and diagnostics. Giacomo worked as part of an international team of operation support technical experts across Switzerland, China, Japan, and Korea.

Giacomo Vettoretto's education history is as follows:

From 2011 to 2016, Giacomo attended the Istituto Tecnico Tecnologico Eugenio Barsanti, where they earned a Secondary School Diploma in Meccanica-Meccatronica, specifically in the field of Mechanical Engineering-Mechatronics.

Afterwards, from 2016 to 2019, Giacomo enrolled at Politecnico di Torino and obtained a Bachelor's degree, known as the Laurea di 1° Livello, in Ingegneria Meccanica (Mechanical Engineering).

In 2019, Giacomo pursued further education at the Politecnico di Milano, where they completed their Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Turbomachinery & Internal Combustion Engines. This program lasted three years, until 2022.

Additionally, in 2021, Giacomo had the opportunity to attend the Hamburg University of Technology as part of an International Exchange Program within their Master's program. Giacomo studied Mechanical Engineering during this exchange.

In 2023, Giacomo embarked on two online courses. The first one was a free course titled "2.160 Identification, Estimation, & Learning" offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The second online course was "Python for Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp" provided by Udemy.

Giacomo also pursued another online course, titled "Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp with R," on Udemy in the same year.

Throughout their educational journey, it is important to note that Giacomo did not receive any additional degrees beyond their Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
