Supervise and train transportation staff ensuring that they are operating per the current WAC, RCW’s, Federal, Department and District policies.
Maintain Drivers records make sure they are current and in compliance with their required authorizations, CDL, Medical, First Aid and Yearly In-service.
Responsible for routing, timing and student loads of General Education and Special Accommodations bus routes for students, District-wide.
Secure drivers for trips and sporting events ensuring timely transportation.
Make sure vans are fueled, cleaned and ready.
Maintains Bus Garage (empty trash receptacles bring to grade school dumpster keep lot and garage bays clean, bathroom etc.)
Order and keep on hand necessary supplies for drivers and buses.
Do general repairs on vehicles.(tighten repair seats, change wiper blades,bulbs, etc.)
Keep track of fuel gallons used, coordinate with fuel delivery drivers.
Maintain records for vehicle miles and student counts for STARS reporting.
Coordinating regular maintenance and upkeep of equipment, including vans and buses ensuring vehicles are able to pass the surprise and annual State Patrol inspections.
Work closely with Parents Counselors and Building Administrators to come up with effective student management procedures.
Dispatch
Drive routes when necessary.
Yearly recertification of Drivers Training certificates. Provide a yearly drivers in-service.
Check roads during inclement weather. Make suggestions for possible delays or closure.
Organize and manage districts First Aid Certifications.
Reasonable Suspicion training responsibilities include sending drivers for random drug and alcohol screenings and assisting in the transporting of any staff who is reasonably suspicious to be tested.
